Oil on linen

Orbit is rendered in black and white with minimal brushwork, eliminating the interference of colour and its associated narratives, directing attention toward structure and line alone. The exterior of the composition is dominated by an elaborate Baroque-style frame — its ornamental language functioning not as decoration, but as a visual manifestation of power and sacralization. The frame's density and complexity further isolate the interior space, suspending it within an atmosphere of hollow authority. Within the frame, five swallows trace a loose, barely legible circular orbit. As concrete living forms, the swallows are gradually stripped of their narrative qualities under the pressure of multiple structural layers, tending toward the most minimal form of existence. The circle here is neither symbol nor conclusion, but the residual trace of movement that remains after the individual has been filtered through processes of de-narration and deorientation. The tension between the ornate exterior frame and the sparse circular interior becomes the work's central inquiry — the more emphatically the boundary asserts authority and sacredness, the more the existence within is rendered suspended and dissolved. Orbit thus stands as a visual interrogation of the frame as apparatus of power: when the boundary becomes absolute, does the individual retain anything beyond its trace?
