Through You constructs a deceptively familiar dining scene through minimal black and white brushwork. The pictorial space is divided by a horizontal band into two distinct registers — the suspended white above and the sunken black below — evoking two opposing states of existence caught in rupture. The decorative frame motifs rendered on the plate intervene directly into the logic of contemporary art consumption: ornamental language, extracted from its original context and transplanted onto tableware, lays bare a cultural condition in which artistic form becomes a vehicle for self-decoration rather than genuine engagement. At the centre of the composition, a tilted black elliptical ring floats in suspension, functioning simultaneously as a metaphor for the digestive organ and as a symbolic apparatus of cultural mechanism. A dotted parabolic arc cuts through the ring, its trajectory landing upon a cleanly halved apple: the apple passes through every structure, intact and unaltered. The knife and fork lie scattered, the posture of consumption already dissolved. Through You poses a fundamental question: when art becomes an instrument of identity, does digestion ever truly occur, or does what is swallowed simply pass through, leaving nothing behind?
